Audacity

My audacity project is an exclusive interview with DJNico1, a resident DJ at High Point University. In his interview, DJNico1 discusses the rise of house music through events such as Ultra Music Festival as well as his opinion on the future of house music in the eyes of popular culture today.

I was required to tell a story with this project, as well as add an actuality sound to fit. My story turned more into a formal interview, discussing topics of house music much deeper than surface level banter. My actuality sound can be heard in the first minute, as DJNico1 types codes into his DJ program to create new and fresh sounds. The majority of the interview discusses the effect the drug culture has had on house music and our predictions for the future of the rave culture.

MCCJ debuts the movie "Greenway Grief," which tells the story of Melissa training for her first 5K run of the semester. But it seems her trainer, Chelsea, has other plans for their afternoon run.

For this project, I was appointed cinematographer. My duties included shooting the footage we used for the scenes, as well as operating the slate at times between shots. This project gave me a newfound understanding for movies and the role that editing plays in the final product. All members of the group were responsible for editing our own version, however for the final product we collaborated to create the video above. My personal favorite shot in the movie is the flashback Chelsea has with Casey, partly because of the filming and the way it looked when we edited it together.
